    • I too have an issue with the death penalty. I feel that God/Our Creator will fix his wagon, and will find away to make him pay for his wrongdoings. If we as a nation kill someone, we are no different than the person who did the original killing. However, I agree with what you said... Why should he wake up everyday, breathe the same air as we do, after he's taken that from his family, and then society pays for him to live out his life! So, I guess I feel "on the fence" also, but have faith that in the end he will get his! I personally couldn't inject the needle, so I couldn't ask someone else to do it either.

  • The new video of Chris confessing to what actually happened is absolutely disgusting! His daughters were alive the entire time he was driving to the in field. His oldest daughter watched her father kill her sister and then asked “daddy are you going to do to me what you just did to CC?” I hope this man dies a very slow, horrible, painful death! He deserves far more punishment than what he got and I hope his fellow inmates make him feel real welcome to this scumbags new home (obviously sarcasm)

  • On the Watts story.. A detail you forgot When talking about the strangulation of his wife.. An expert said "It takes 3 to 4 minutes to choke someone to death." and if I remember right "He crushed half her neck in the process." And on the topic of killing his children: The youngest one didn't take long to smother.. She was (if i remember) sleeping so she didn't really know. The eldest daughter... Had defensive cuts in her mouth from biting her tongue and cheeks as she tried to fight for her life. And when the childrens bodies were found... It was said that the oil has soaked through whatever the bodies were in... Staining their pjs.. But the glitter and stars still visible. His wife was thrown into a shallow grave not too far away. This fucked up monster murdered his pregnant wife.. And killed his children. All the mean while planning a vacation with his mistress.. Saying they would run away to paradise, telling her "We are in the midst of a divorce" I want death to be the same for this man as it was for his wife and his children who he murdered.

  • As someone who neither supports nor condemns Trump and his administration, I have to say that I think he made a smart move here. While Kishoggi should not have been killed, and Bin Salman is a monster for ordering him killed, it would be kind of hypocritical of trump, who yells at the media practically daily, to protect a journalist. And condemning the saudis does not actually do anything; it's just another example of how certain individuals want to make tragedies about them and how good of a person they are for caring about this. Honestly, I respect Trump for not doing the PC thing here; however, I feel as though his buddying up with Saudi Arabia could lead to increased foreign dependency on oil, which would be a mistake long-term. Democrats and Republicans should realize that virtue-signaling across the world just breeds hatred of America, and stop "condemning" countries when we have our own human rights issues to deal with (Gun Violence, Homophobia, etc). We are not the "leaders of human rights" and we never were. Because no one ever is; regardless of how prosperous a society is, it has problems. JUST my opinion though, support any critiques.

  • As a musical artist myself, I think Taylor Swift is making a bold move that hopefully will begin to change the music industry from within. Contrary to popular belief, artists don't get nearly as much money from their creative works as they should (not to mention music video ripping or illegal music downloading); the companies often retain rights to all of the music and general content even after a contract is finished. That means the extra revenue in years to come will still go to the company, and the artist can't do much about it. Take Jane Monheit (who I've talked to about this, actually), or Kelly Clarkson, for example. And honestly, in the end, for the artist, it's not nearly as much about the money as it is the pain of seeing something you've created being slowly taken out of your hands. It hurts the creative heart.

  • Death penalty: He’ll likely get put in the hole. A life in a windowless cell for 23 1/2hrs a day... that’s about as inhumane as it gets in my book. Much more compassionate to execute, if you question this statement or disagree, I would urge you to look into how ‘life without’ sentences impact a person, how repeated and/or long term segregation change a human being, there’s a ton of data on the matter. Many people given life sentences in lieu of capital punishment end up serving most of their time in segregation. So if you are concerned about the guy “still living every day, breathing air” well, I wouldn’t call it living, and rest assured it’s going to be a painful horrible existence, there really isn’t a more extreme thing to do to a person than to force them to live in that kind of environment. I think he deserves it... but the people claiming they are against the death penalty for ‘humanitarian reasons’ are absurd delusional hypocrites.

  • I'm against death penalty because 1- Justice veredicts are not always accurate and there are lists of people wrongly sentenced to death and killed. And 2- Justice is not about revenge, there is no benefit to anyone at all to have the person killed instead of jailed for the rest of his life.

  • On principle, I'm against the death penalty because too many innocent men are killed. EMOTIONALLY I can not dismiss it entirely. I routinely argue for clemency, for the duty to retreat (rather than the seeming American standard of "self defence" excusing even undeniably criminal behaviour. Like the Trayvon Martin case) but if anybody harmed by brother's kids I would want vengeance. I'd want them to suffer. It's why I think having an independent criminal justice system is so important. But I also think that anyone can choose to break any law if they are willing to accept the consequences.

Because of that, I take her standing up for the artists with a heavy grain of salt since I can easily see her only making that kind of move because she will benefit from it and including everyone else was just good PR.

  • Everyone saying that we can't interact with Saudi Arabia because they did this don't understand the big picture. Yes it is terrible that the government would order a hit on somebody, but the same people saying to not involve ourselves with Saudi Arabia are the same people saying not to frack the oil in America. Where do we go without oil? Yes clean energy and electric vehicles are an option but what kind of hault does that put on the everyday life of Americans? Making that switch is not an overnight process. If we eliminate ties with Saudi Arabia we must frack the oil in America, many people refute both options. That won't work. Look at how decisions affect the future and you will see the logic.

Not because I value his life, but because most prisoners HATE people who were convicted of crimes involving kids. A good number are fathers, uncles, etc who love the children in their life. He's gonna live his life in hell till someone who knows they won't get out kills him. Tldr, life in prison is worse than death if you hurt a kid.

How about some intellectual honesty and integrity? What should American do to Saudi Arabia for this murder? Once you figure that out, do we apply the same standard to Russia, China, North Korea, Iraq, Venezuela...? No? Why? Oh, because it isn't about being a human rights leader or solving problems, it's about taking the opposite viewpoint from anything Trump says. We gotta get our social media likes right? I bet at least 75% of social media and 95% of MSM content will disappear overnight after the 2020 election gives us a new president. We'll all shake ourselves out of a stupor and realize all we've done for 4 years is bitch and moan. • Capital punishment should never be an option to serve justice in a humanist society. Accepting it has ramifications that goes well beyond addressing the issue of a just punishment and that ultimately has much more down sides for the society than for the guilty person who's being sentenced. Although it might feel like in some case the guilty person is getting off easy with life imprisonment, this choice is actually about the kind of society we live in and the values we want it to support.

Shouldn't the goal be to work to be better to fix that image? I agree with Phil, it seems like America is standing for less and less, and it concerns me that people are alright with that as long as their family and way of life is protected. But what if it's not? What if for the betterment of image, you and your family are the sacrificial lambs in the public eye, either by neglect or on purpose? Consider me idealistic, but I believe people must be held responsible for what they say and do, especially when they're a leader of the United States.

  • Every single person on the planet is for the death penalty. There is not a single person that would not kill to protect their own life, or the life of their loved ones if it was necessary. If somebody attempts to take an innocent life, their forfeit their own life, we all know it, and we would all enforce it in the moment. However, for some reason I can't understand, some people want to reward murderers and allow them to live if they actually succeed in committing their crime. What sense does that make? If you try and fail to kill me because I defended myself and kill you, then you get what you deserve (the death penalty). But if you try to kill me and succeed, then you are rewarded and allowed to continue living. That's insane. It amazes me that people allow politics or emotions to override their natural logic.

We don't need to intervene in anymore world affairs, period. I'm tired of interventionist presidents and congressmen telling us that it's our duty to police the rest of the world. It ain't. Never has been, never will be. George W. started us another middle eastern conflict and Barrack Obama promised to end it. Both were outright lies. However I cannot support or condone it ever. No justice system is perfect and without mistakes (especially when the wrong person is tried for someone else's crime) You can be let out of prison, but you can't be unkilled. In the Watts Murder Case the facts are clear and I am certain he murdered them, but not definitely certain, you know? The clueless who are attacking Pres Trump over his reaction do not realize the implications of losing Saudi Arabia as a close ally against both Iran and the so-called "Palestinians" would be a disaster, the lost of arms sales and resulting lost of 10s of 1000s of aero/manufacturing jobs would be devastating to several large cities and the resulting cost of gas (certainly well over $4/gal.) would be a huge hit to most all American's pocketbook.

Someone is going to say something to the effect of, “what if crazed maniac abducted your daughter or son, used then as a sex slave, torturing them for weeks before they finally died?” To that I say that is exactly why parents orient on the juries their own crimes and the can only read letters after the ruling has been made. In that moment, the pain, grief and anger would absolutely overrun my Very Well Formed and Informed Moral Conscience. Emotions are incredibly powerful. Here is where I will drop why, then continue why Moral Conscience, a response rather than a reaction MUST always be how we use our free will. I am what many friends call an Über Catholic Cristian. This fundamentally puts me at odds with Conservatives, Evangelicals, any f the 101 lines of Baptists, non-denominational, televangelists and worst of all, prosperity ministries. Why is this, you may ask? There is only ONE True Canon for Christianity, and that is simply the 4 Gospels & Acts of the Apostles, period, end of story. These are chronicles of the Life, Teachings, Witness, Every act, all 11 New Commandments, Jesus FULFILLING ALL of the Mosaic Laws of Leviticus and Numbers, His establishing a NEW and EVERLASTING COVENANT, His Pascal Mystery, Resurrection, Ascension and the Founding of His Church. The problem with the faith traditions I listed before, and I have to honest, a good 30-40% of Catholic Christian Conservatives, is the keep their heads buried on the Pentateuch, for The Jewish, The Law, the first 5 books of the Bible. Especially in the Mosaic Laws of Leviticus and Numbers. The MASSIVE flaw with that is that have no fucking idea what their talking about. I’ve studied the Bible, Old Testament, New Testament, Christology, Theology and on and on for 30 years. This batshit Crazy people don’t understand that there are FOUR distinct types of Literature in the Old Testament. The cannot wrap their heads around the simple fact that the Mosaic Laws, while DivinelyInspired, but in a VERY specific context. They were written for a VERY specific People, at a VERY specific time in their history, under VERY Specific circumstances, to achieve a VERY specific goal. None of which have existed in thousands of years. The also pick and choose which ones they like and which they don’t. If they followed all of them, NOT ONE of them would be alive today. The point is the want the angry vengeful God of those 5 books, but if they actually read it carefully, that was never the case. Sometime humans needed a kick in the ass to do right by their faith. The even WOESE problem is that they deny Christ every day of their lives. They deny Christ’s very nature. This is what guides me. Christ was by nature Countercultural. He Taught unwavering, Radical, All Inclusive, Without Requirement LOVE. Among His Teaches is, “if someone slaps you, give them your other cheek.” Very few understand what that means. In antiquity when an equal slapped an equal, usually to call them out for a wrong and into a fight, they slapped them with an open palm. The ONLY people you slap with a backhand are your lesser or a slave. What Jesus said was if they want to slap you, make them reveal themselves for who they are and you demonstrated who you were. When, in their anger, inevitably slapped you back hand because you have turned your cheek, because you are by definition, Servant to the servant, the person slapping you, their equal, would, by their action, be shunned. Whereas you would be seen as the greater person. It’s like the story of the adulteress who was about to stoned when Jesus came upon them. Jesus said nothing for a while, just knelt between them, writing in the dirt. The one of the townspeople gave him an ultimatum. Jesus said one very simple, but incredibly challenging thing, “Let he who is among you, who is WITHOUT SIN cast the first stone.” One by one, in shame, they dropped their stones and wandered off. The woman has an idea of who Jesus is and thanks him, admitting her sin. Jesus asks if she regrets her sin. She does and Jesus tells her, then go in peace, your sins are are forgiven, sin no more. This is the guiding principle of my Catholic Christian Faith. Nothing warrants me taking or condoning the taking of another life. If these false Christian stuck the old Command, ents, there is one in there about not Murdering. It has never said thou shall not kill. It reads though shall not murder. The Fact remains, Jesus brought us. A NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT, that he bound, as the lamb of God and Son of Man with His Blood on the Cross. I have NO CHOICE but not”Love one and another as I have Loved you.” That means Pro-Life start to finish. I do not judge anyone who, for their own reasons, reasons I will never know, has an abortion. I would stand in front of an abortion doctor and take the bullet that a lunatic meant to murder him. No Executions ever, period. The MOST RIDONKULOUS part of the Conservative Christians, they are all anti-abortion, period. Nearly all of the same people are Pro-Death Penalty. You know what they are also against? Funding Pre-natal checkups, funding well baby care, funding postpartum care for mother, funding vaccinations and feeding poor children. They have almost ended what they sell as, “humiliating” free lunches and breakfasts for poor children, while ignoring all studies that clearly demonstrate these meals EMPOWER kids to performer better and at higher levels. They don’t want to fund childcare, pediatric care, higher education, trade schools, anything. None of them are PRO-LIFE, not one. They are PRO-BIRTH and couldn’t give a shit about what happens to that child the rest of their lives. That is ANTI-LIFE, and I cannot abide that. I MUST FOLLOW WHAT CHRIST TAUGHT AND HIS MISSIONS FOR US. So NO, NEVER, EVER Death Penalty. But I will tutor kids, do what I can to help poor families, be a mentor, anything I can to be the Hands and Feet of Christ on this world, in this life. So NO DEATH PENALTY, I am now and have been since high school an ACTIVE ALLY to the LGBTQ Community of Human of Human Being, anyone who calls them a mistake, an abomination, tries to send them to one of those disgusting orientation “correction” camps, has to live with the fact that not ONLY ARE THEY DENYING CHRIST, but they COMMITTING HERESY AND DENYING GOD. You can’t change the rules to suit your twisted mind. GOS IS LOVE. GOD IS PERFECT. EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE GOD CREATES IS PERFECTION. So have fun where ever you end up. So very much L♥️VE to you Phil, and especially Joe Nation and Charity Pants‼️♥️♥️♥️🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🛐🛐🛐🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️

  • No, he has no regrets for murdering his children and pregnant wife, only regretting that he was caught. In the video pleading for their return, he didn't look right, didn't look concerned or scared for them, he looked like he enjoyed it. So no, he's going to be fine getting three square meals a day and not having to pay anything for it. I can only hope prison law will catch him and make him uncomfortable.

  • On the death penality. When such a horrid crimes are committed that they deserver the death the it will never seem like justice is truly served. Even killing these monsters won't fill the void they left in this world. I think the best thing is to just locked them up for the remainder of there lives and show that we, as a society, at least won't stoop there there level.

  • Phil, nobody wants to spend time with their families!!! Really, I mean how important is a few billion dollars to a country like America, where we're in debt like 18 trillion, and we spend 700 billion dollars in military spending each year?!!! I mean, that shit is a drop in the bucket and chump change to us, so why are we allowing the murder of an American resident, hiding here to stay alive, for the kind of money America left in it's other pants?!! Saudi Arabia is the country that needs a regime change!!! We can't do that though, somebody else has to!!
